Collection: Rosalyn Baird-Perkins
Born and raised in Montreal, creating art has always been my passion. Aside from receiving a Fine Arts degree through studies at Concordia and University of Ottawa and prior to working on my art full time, I held positions at several Canadian Art galleries. An early interest in travelling led me to live in numerous cities across Canada and countries around the world. Being immersed in many different cultures and environments, has influenced much of my art. For example, African Images, was a series based on west African people and Zimbabwe wildlife. Having previously enjoyed living along the banks of the St. Lawrence River & in the Thousand Islands, I am now living in Kingston, Ontario. My exploration of this area, with its unique scenery, history and wildlife, continues to be a subject of my art. Portraiture and gardens have also been recurring themes in my art, as seen in my current series of acrylic garden paintings. Based on my interest with gardening, the inspiration for these works comes from both historical gardens in North America, as well as the gardens I created myself, in Montreal and Kingston. Whatever the subject or medium, I hope to capture a mood, the essence of the sitter or subject, through color, play of light or movement. I have been represented by galleries in Canada and the U.S., participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, including environmental & conservation events and completed multiple commissioned pieces. Collectors can be found in Canada, the U.S. and overseas. www.rosalynbairdperkins.com @rosalynbairdperkinsart
