Collection: Erin Hollingshead

Erin Hollingshead is a painter, illustrator and printmaker living on the east coast of Canada in Kjiputuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia). Life near the Atlantic Ocean has offered an endless flow of inspiration to the work that she creates. Her work explores the human connection and fascination with the ocean. She graduated from NSCAD University where she majored in painting and printmaking. She's been building this body of work for 9 years; producing illustrations, paintings and lino-cut prints. Her illustrations are typically made with ink and watercolour, paintings typically with oil paint and her primary form of print is relief (lino-cut/block printing). Her work is currently represented through Argyle Fine Art gallery in Halifax, as well as carried at many shops around the province.
Erin makes hand printed lino-cut block prints, illustrations and paintings. For her lino-cuts, she carves an image into a piece of linoleum or soft rubber. Once the carving is complete, she rolls ink onto its surface and presses it to paper to achieve the final artwork. Each lino-cut print is an original artwork, as each one is an impression off of the carving that was made. For her illustrations, she typically works with watercolour and ink, and oil paint for her paintings.
