Collection: Christiane Kingsley

Christiane Kingsley is an award winning fine arts painter who works in oil, acrylic, watercolour, and mixed media. After a rewarding career as a high school teacher and then as a director in the Public Service, she became a full-time fine arts painter. She feels this was written in her DNA since, on her mother’s side, she can trace professional/gifted amateur painters back at least four generations!
Christiane has been very involved in the Ottawa arts community for over a dozen years. She served for two years on the board of directors of the Foyer Gallery, the executive of the Ottawa Art Association, served for over a year as the Gallery Coordinator for the Nepean Fine Arts League. Until recently, Christiane was in charge of all social media for the Art Lending of Ottawa and contributed quarterly articles about Art Lending to several community newspapers. She has been a permanent juried member of the artist-run Foyer Gallery since 2010 (on sabbatical from Jan to Sept 30, 2024).
Currently, Christiane is focusing on creating bright serene abstracts in acrylic and. especially, detailed oil florals. Christiane is an explorer at heart and a life-long learner: she loves to try new surfaces and learn new styles and techniques. For example, last year she took a seven-week online course on the oil painting techniques used by 17th century Dutch masters. Also, for the past three years, she has been learning online from an Argentinian oil floral master. She incorporates in her work what she learns but adapts those techniques to create her own style.
Christiane’s work can be found in private and corporate collections in Canada, USA, Australia, Europe and Great Britain.
